Recognising Risk Early.
Supporting Safer Choices Across Families,
Schools and Communities
DON'T MIX
Mixing cocaine with alcohol or other substances significantly increases the risk of heart failure and overdose. The effects are unpredictable and dangerous.
DON'T USE ALONE
Using alone means no one is there to help if something goes wrong. Always ensure someone trusted knows where you are and can assist in an emergency.
PLAN YOUR DOSE
Start with a small amount and wait to feel the effects before taking more. Setting a limit beforehand helps prevent unintentional overconsumption.
STAY HYDRATED
Sip water or electrolyte drinks throughout the session to avoid overheating and dehydration. Cocaine raises body temperature, making fluid replacement essential.
KNOW YOUR LIMITS
Listen to your body and recognize when you need to stop. Taking breaks helps your cardiovascular system recover and reduces the long-term strain on your heart.
USE CLEAN TOOLS
Never share straws or other equipment. Sharing tools can transmit blood-borne infections and viruses, even if no visible blood is present.
When to Seek Emergency Help
If someone becomes unconscious, has trouble breathing, is experiencing a seizure, or shows signs of a severe allergic reaction after using cocaine, call emergency services immediately. Your quick action can save a life. Stay calm, stay with them, and be honest with medical staff about what has been taken.
